Couture Motion….

Couture Motion is a husband and wife team, Ian and Megan Swanson.  With Ian’s MFA in Film from Columbia University and Megan’s background in photography and theatre, we  bring a unique perspective to all of our films and photos.  Our work not only documents your event, but also your experience of the day so you can relive those incredible moments throughout your lifetime.  We craft a piece of art that is unique to you and your special day.  We film in Central and Southern California and beyond.

What sets Couture Motion apart from other filmmakers and videographers is our belief in Cinéma Vérité.  Cinéma Vérité (French for truthful cinema) is a style of filmmaking the combines the reality and authenticity of documentary filmmaking with the craft and quality of cinematic techniques.  Basically we tell your story, we capture your experience, and we sculpt it in a way that will take your breath away.

How We Started…

In 2006, Ian moved to New York to pursue an MFA in film from Columbia University while I (Megan) was touring the country with the musical Camelot.  Near the end of his time studying in New York, Ian started researching cameras to shoot his thesis film on.  That’s when he stumbled upon a breathtaking wedding film.  I watched the film as well, as I have always loved weddings more than a normal person should.  We were shocked.  We had no idea that a wedding film could be so artistic and meaningful.  And then we received a cue from the universe.  In early 2009, Ian got the opportunity to shoot his first wedding in upstate New York.  Ian had never shot a wedding before, but realized quickly how much he enjoyed it.  Wedding films allowed for a more personal and intimate relationship.  We then decided that with my background in photography & theatre, I would a good asset to couple’s wedding films.  So in October 2009 Couture Motion shot their first wedding!  We found the whole experience so gratifying, emotional, and artistically fulfilling that we changed the course of our lives and we haven’t looked back since.
